Feeling like a tourist in my own city! I moved into my new apartment this weekend - 15 Leroy Place in the Nob Hill neighborhood. Nob Hill itself has so much to offer - I actually feel like I am in a city when I walk around my streets now. One block up from my apartment I have the coolest view of the Trans-America Building and can watch the cable cars drive by. I have already discovered an amazing sandwich shop, cute internet cafe, awesome brunch spot, hole in the wall chinese restaurant, and some adorable shopping. I will be exploring during any free time I get over the next few weeks, for sure!

Enough about the neighborhood - on to my ridiculously nice apartment! We LUCKED out big time on this place. It is hard to call it an apartment, because it is basically a HOUSE. 7 Bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3 outdoor areas, lots of shared living areas, and the nicest amenities I have seen in SF apartments. Anytime I walk around the apartment I can’t stop talking about how lucky I am to live here. The ladies of Leroy are lovin’ it :) <3

Summer in SF: Sunny with a chance of…

Some clips of the best B2B I will probably experience (next year really has to be something special to beat out this year’s weather, friends, music, costumes, etc.)

Amy and I made it all the way to Ocean Beach & it was actually WARM and fog-free (unheard of). The day was absolutely magical - filled with some of the best memories I have made in SF to date.

When It Feels Right

An inspiring article about chasing your dreams once you know what they are.

By far the best part:

“People and their crazy romantic notions: “I’d be an artist if I could,” or “I’d travel if I could,” or “I’d do all these things if I had the time/money/motivation.” Everyone would do everything if they had the fundamental resources necessary. Yeah, maybe — you do have to be realistic. Be totally realistic for ten minutes without a break and take note of how you feel. That’s the crushing weight of limitations. But, the thing about limitations is there’s usually a way around them. Not becoming a ballerina because you don’t have legs is one thing. Not becoming a ballerina because you don’t have a tutu is something else entirely.”

A pretty solid weekend full of amazingly warm weather, solid friends, trampoline dodgeball, street-strolling, skateboarding, rooftop reading, Cinco de Mayo-ing, Kite flying, and friend making. Who knew I had room for new friends and more cool activities in my already action-packed and friend-filled life? ;)

Simplify

2. Call your mom.

-I used to be a bit better at this one. Definitely still do this once a week, but trying for more!

4. Write out a list by hand.

-I have ALWAYS done this. I will now keep bigger lists on Google docs, but I make a list about 1-5 times a day with pen and paper. #oldschool

13. If you can’t make it to something, be honest and say why.

-If you ask my friends what quality I hate most in people it is flakiness. Plain & simple. Don’t do it.

15. Get your stuff together the night before.

-The nights I do this make me wonder why I don’t do it every night.

26. Ask for help.

-On the constant journey with this one. Why is it so hard for some people to ask for help and so easy for others? hmmmm.

When Did We All Get So Old?

“People are already settling into careers they rather dislike, staying with the same person they’ve been with for years even though they’ve occasionally voiced their desire to see elsewhere, giving up on dreams of travel or adventure, and deciding that they are now “too old” to enjoy the occasional real party.”

I have been to brunches and happy hours amongst acquaintances who, at the tender ages of 23-25, will spend the entire time talking about their problems at work and their desire find a bigger apartment. It’s almost like watching a bunch of children put on their parents’ clothes and shoes and shuffle around the house like grown-ups, a kind of caricature of boring adulthood. It’s hard not to see your life flashing before your eyes at moments like this, a chilling feeling that if, in the dawn of your adult life, you’ve already limited your conversation topics to the rigors of responsibility and commitment, things can’t get too much better from here.”

This article is more than worth a read, and most importantly I hope we all end up asking ourselves: “Don’t we owe it to ourselves to live life, and above all, be young, on our own terms? Who is telling us what to do anymore, and more importantly, why are we listening?” <3
